Is any Antivirus able to detect spywares on computers ?

Some, but not all ... here are a couple that I know about:

Trend Micro's online Housecall scan detects spyware.

With Norton/Symantec, if you have a security-suite-style package it will detect spyware. However, not ALL of their a-v programs have anti-spyware capability. If you're in the process of making a buying decision, check the fine print and make sure it'll handle spyware, if that's a factor in your decision.

But regardless of which antivirus program you have, even if it DOES have antispyware capability, it's a good idea to have a program or two that are specifically designed to detect and remove adware and spyware. No one program will get everything. Lavasoft Ad-Aware SE Personal and SpyBot Search %26 Destroy are two good FREE anti-adware/spyware programs. SUPER and SpySweeper are also great programs, but you have to pay for them (at least, to use ALL their features).

Hope that helps!

If you have an all in one security package like Nortons, you should, i.e. your pc security suite should include AV and Spyware detector. If you use free stuff, like I do, you need a seperate one like Spybot Search and Destroy which is free or Spyware Doctor is also good. But to answer your question, an anti-virus programme might not necessarily contain a spyware detector.
