Kapersky Antivirus. Kapersky IS the best protection available, and I have used it on some older PC's. It does not hog system resources.

However, if I were to effectively recomend an antivirus for you, I would need to know what type of system you do have.

However, I will recomend you give "Active Virus Shield" a try, from AOL. Yes, it has AOL's name on it, and no, it is not in any way linked with AIM. It SIMPLY HAS AOL'S NAME ON IT. It is really, Kapersky Antivirus, but again, like I said, just has AOL's name on it, and, it is absolutely free, and as fully functional as the comercial version of Kapersky.

Go to http://free.aol.com/antivirus/freeav/ , and follow all of the instructions. You must use an email address to register the program for free usage, and the subscription is endless.

Other free apps like AVG and Antivir, either do not have active protection, full protection, or they may have a nag screen. I know from personal experience, that new versions of ANTIvir, have nag screens. Thats annoying. And with all of the downloading that I do, if a virus isn't already on my PC(which there are none), it has done the job perfectly.
